Updates

1-  Please note the change of date for the Ramapo Match.  It will be Thurs. 1/22, NOT Fri. 1/23.

2-  After Tuesday's Practice this week, decisions will be made as to who will make the Varsity/JV Squad along with who will be on the "Practice Squad".

Beginner's Clinic TODAY!

The Beginner's Clinic will begin at 3:15PM today in Room 808.  It will last no longer than 20 minutes.  Please be on time for a prompt start at 3:15!!!

The doctor is coming to Indian Hills one last time tomorrow to "clear" students for the winter season.  If you do not have your forms in by tomorrow, then you will NOT be able to participate in practice next week!!!

ALL MEDICAL FORMS WERE DUE LAST WEEK!  If you haven't gotten them in to the nurse yet, please do so immediately.  If you are unsure if you are "cleared" to bowl, GO ASK THE NURSE!!!

Better yet, EVERYONE should check with the nurse if they are cleared to bowl!!!

The schedule has been slightly changed.

12/1 vs Northern Highlands will now be 12/3.

We will practice on 12/2.

1/9 vs Paramus will now be 1/8.

The Boys Varsity Team will be honored at this Monday's Board of Education Meeting for the COunty Championship.

The meeting will take place at the Indian Hills Cafeteria at 8PM.

I need to know who can go and who can not from our Varsity Boys Team along with their parents.

Pennies For Pins Fundraiser

Now that things have calmed down around here, I'd like to run our Pennies For Pins Fundraiser.

I can do almost all of the organization here at school, BUT I do need a couple parents to "run" the event down at Holiday Bowl.  The problem is that since bowling season is over, I cannot be down at the lanes with our bowlers as per NJSIAA rules for coaches.

Here is how it would work:

1- I will have a meeting at school with the kids and go over all the details of the event and we will decide a charity to receive a portion of the proceeds.
2- Kids get people to sponsor them for a monetary amount per pin knocked down on the day oft he event.
3- On the day of the event, the kids bowl 2 games and "count" the highest of the 2 games for their calculation of what people owe them.
4- Money is collected over the course of a week or so and will be deposited into our PAC or IH Treasury account (not sure yet which one gets the money).
5- Check will be written to a charity and mailed or charity may come to pick it up here.
6- Kids can decide on an item to use a portion of the money....ie....shirts, sweats, etc.... (girls and boys teams can decide separately if they want).

So, I would need maybe 2-3 parents to help out at the lanes....getting kids organized on the lanes and being their to make sure it goes smooth.  Money can be collected that day and throughout the following week.

-Thurs 2/27.  We leave school on a bus to New Brunswick at 7:30AM (bus by Teachers Parking Lot).
  Tournament Starts at 9:30AM.   Bring money for lunch.

The Boys Bowling Championships are rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9:30 AM at Carolier Lanes!

So, we will get on the bus at IHHS at 7AM Saturday morning.  Tournament will start at 9AM.

STATE FINALS UPDATE!!!

As of now (10:45AM Thurs), the tournament is ON for Friday. 

UNFORTUNATELY THE INFORMATION WE HAVE GOTTEN IS THAT THE STATE WILL BE MAKING ITS FINAL DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT TO HAVE IT TOMORROW/SATURDAY WILL BE MADE FRIDAY MORNING AT 6:30AM!!!

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND HOW STRANGE THIS IS CONSIDERING WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE BUS BY 7:30AM TOMORROW MORNING, BUT THE STATE MAKES THE RULES, NOT US!

(Reminder: If the tournament gets postponed until Saturday, it is a 7AM bus from IHHS)

Friday

For the Team Finals on Friday:

-We will leave IHHS at 7:30AM
-Bus will pick us up by the Board of Education Office (by Teachers Parking Lot)
-We start bowling at 9:30AM.
-Bring money for lunch!
-If we win our Group (10 teams), then we move on to the next round after lunch.
*SNOW DATE IS SATURDAY 2/15, same time and place*

Wednesday

WEDNESDAY- All varsity boys bowlers are welcome to come support Alex AND bowl a practice game or two down at Carolier Lanes as preparation for Friday.

*If a bowler decides to go, here are the details:

-You are responsible for any missed work in classes.
-Bring your equipment in to my Office in the morning.
-We will leave at 9:30AM, so you will go to Periods 1 and 2.
-You must bring money for lunch and to bowl a practice game or two (if you choose).
-In round 1 Alex will bowl a 3 game series and we will see if he moves on.  SO, we could be leaving to come back to IH as early as 3PM, but could be there much later if he moves on.  Make sure you consider this IF you decide to come.
-All bowlers must take the bus to Carolier Lanes.

Our last regular season match has been rescheduled for Thurs 2/6 against Ridgewood.

A drop-off bus will be available from IH after school.

There is no bus from IHHS since it is an "exam" day.

A note about the Varsity Average Webpage's where you find all the info about the Big North.

The new Column's you see that say "Weighted Average" is using a formula to come up with an overall average for each individual for All-County Awards.  The formula is based upon 3 things: Regular Season Varsity Match Average, County Tournament Average and State Sectional Tournament Average. 

REMINDER:

Girls State Sectional is 2/1 at Bowler City (8AM bus)
Boys State Sectional is 2/8 at Bowler City (7:30AM bus)

(Top 2 teams in each group qualify for the State Finals on those days.)

Bergen County Tournament

1- Top 6 averages are attending:

       Chris, Graham, Alex, Craig, Jared, Jon

2- Bring $ for Lunch.

3- 7:15AM Bus.

4- Tournament starts at 9AM and should end around 4PM.

5- It is a 5 man team event and we bowl a total of 6 games (3 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon).

Volunteers Needed!

Our team is going to help out and "work" the snack stand at the High School during a wrestling match.  For helping out, the Parents Athletic Council (if you are not a member, click on the link on the left of this page to get the form) will put $200 into our bowling account at school.

I will need a minimum of 2 parents to volunteer along with a minimum of 3 bowlers.
